=============================================================================== Atomic Physics Seminar(原子物理研究セミナー) =============================================================================== Speaker: Prof. Gordon Berry Affiliation: University of Notre Dame Schedule: Apr 15th (TUES.), 2014, 13:30-15:00 Talk title:Excitation functions in the Beam-Foil and EBIT Light Sources Language: English Place: Laser Science Laboratory, seminar roomA roomB (roomNo.123) These two sources are well-known for their use in observing and identifying optical transitions in very highly ionized atomic systems. We will focus on the great differences in their effective excitation functions in terms of low and how excitation states, and their angular momentum distributions. Using these differences, we can identify the principal excitation processes taking place in the two light sources. We will also discuss some recent suggestions of the possibility of resonant excitations and the connection to earlier theoretical and experimental work in the beam-foil source.
