DESCRIPTION:The First RIKEN Quantum International Workshop on Frontiers of
Quantum Computing Applications and Quantum-HPC Integration\n[Program (Web
 )]    [Program (PDF)]    Updated: May 23\, 2026\nOverview\nThis two-da
y workshop will bring together leading experts from academia\, industry\,
and national laboratories to explore the rapidly evolving frontiers of qua
ntum computing applications and their integration with high-performance co
mputing (HPC) platforms.Hosted by RIKEN Quantum\, the event will provide a
forum for discussing recent advances\, practical challenges\, and future
directions toward achieving utility-scale quantum computations and robust
 quantum–HPC hybrid workflows.\nScope and Objectives\nThe workshop aims t
o foster interdisciplinary discussion and collaboration at the intersectio
n of quantum information science\, physics\, quantum chemistry\, life scie
nce\, and scientific computing. Key areas of focus include:\n\nApplication
s of quantum algorithms to quantum many-body problems in quantum chemistry
 \, condensed matter physics\, atomic physics\, and high-energy physics\nHy
brid quantum–classical computational approaches that tightly integrate q
uantum processors with HPC resources\nEmerging applications of quantum com
puting in solving differential equations\, computational fluid dynamics (C
 FD)\, and computer-aided engineering (CAE)\nEarly fault-tolerant quantum c
omputing (early FTQC) and its applications\nLarge-scale classical simulati
ons of quantum many-body systems\nPathways toward utility-scale applicatio
ns and demonstrations of quantum advantage\n\nBy bringing together researc
hers across diverse domains\, the workshop aims to accelerate the developm
ent of computational strategies that synergistically combine quantum and c
lassical resources and to chart a realistic path toward practical quantum
 computing applications. \nDiscussion Themes\n\nHow can quantum–HPC inte
gration accelerate progress toward real-world scientific and engineering a
pplications?\nWhat are the roles of large-scale classical simulations in b
enchmarking and guiding quantum algorithm development?\nWhat are the near-
term possibilities with early fault-tolerant quantum devices?\nWhat strate
gies and architectures can enable scalable\, reproducible quantum–HPC wo
rkflows?\nHow can we define and achieve quantum advantage in meaningful ap
 plication domains?\n\nInvited Speakers\n(Alphabetical order)\nPlenary talk
