題目 : From GeV to TeV: a SNR overview
概要 :
The Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope is providing, since 2008, a survey of the whole sky in the 100 MeV-300 GeV energy range with unprecedented sensitivity and angular resolution. Those observations, combined with TeV observations from ground Cherenkov telescopes have shed new light on many types of Galactic objects, including Supernova Remnants (SNRs) which are believed to be the sources of Galactic cosmic rays. With over 15 SNRs identified to date and over 40 candidates in the 2nd Fermi Gamma-ray LAT (2FGL) Catalog, we are beginning to have sufficient numbers of objects to perform GeV SNR population studies and explore their connection to TeV emission.
In combination with a wide range of multiwavelength data, this permits the first systematic study of SNRs including GeV data, allowing us to classify SNRs and to separate effects of evolution and environment. In combination with multiwavelength data, we can constrain emission models of the underlying particle populations, allowing us to quantify SNRs' aggregate contribution to Galactic cosmic rays in a statistically significant manner. I will present a selection of GeV and TeV results and progress towards the 1st Fermi-LAT SNR catalog. A particular emphasis will be given to the TeV shell SNRs and the search for GeV counterpart of the recently detected SNR HESS J1731-347.
