Description

We present a relativistic microscopic optical model potential derived from ab initio relativistic Brueckner-Hartree-Fock theory, which successfully describes nucleon scattering on stable nuclei [Phys. Rev. C 109, 064603 (2024)]. We then extend this framework to predict proton radioactivity in exotic, deformed nuclei near the drip line, such as $^{149}$Lu. Our calculations achieve excellent agreement with experimental half-lives and reveal novel decay dynamics driven by nuclear deformation [arXiv:2507.09692]. This work establishes a robust, parameter-free tool for describing nucleon interactions with unstable isotopes.
