Description
ASAGI, which allows adjustment of the time constant, was employed as the cathode readout ASD for the SR-PPAC, and its position resolution performance was evaluated. A 290 MeV/u 129Xe beam was used for the measurements. For comparison, a conventional ASD circuit was also tested under the same experimental conditions.
For a beam intensity corresponding to approximately 1 Mpps, the position resolution obtained with ASAGI was about 50 –70 μm worse than that achieved with the conventional ASD circuit. However, it was confirmed that ASAGI operated stably even at an operating voltage 20 V lower than that required for the conventional ASD.
Furthermore, a comparison was made of the position resolution as a function of the shaping time constant of the circuit and the beam intensity, in order to clarify their influence on detector performance and to evaluate the optimal operating conditions.
