Arrival Reminder at Airport
For students applying for financial support, please choose the manual immigration counter/clearance after landing to get an entry stamp on your passport instead of using the e-gate/automated clearance, as proof of your entry time.
Additionally, we highly recommend that all visitors who require an EasyCard (a contactless smart card for transportation and retail purchases) and a SIM card, kindly purchase or pick up the cards BEFORE leaving the airport. For instructions on how to purchase these cards, please refer to the Practical Information.
Transportation
There are two airports in Taipei area, Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (Airport Code: TPE) and Taipei Songshan Airport (Airport code: TSA). Most international flights land in Taoyuan airport, flights from regional destinations such as South Korea, Japan, mainland China, or other charter destinations may land in Songshan airport.
Songshan airport is located inside Taipei city and the transportation to Academia Sinica is very convenient by the subway. There are daily flights between Haneda and Songshan. This is the best way for people travelling from Tokyo.
✈ From TAIWAN TAOYUAN INT'L AIRPORT (TPE) to ACADEMIA SINICA

Taxis queue outside the Arrival Halls of both Terminal I and Terminal II of Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport. Typical fare to Taipei downtown is around 1,300-1,700TWD and the travel time is about 60 minutes in moderate traffic to Academia Sinica.
- BY TAOYUAN METRO+TAIPEI METRO+TAXI
Take the Taoyuan Airport Metro/MRT Line (departs from Taoyuan Airport Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 every 15 minutes daily from 05:55 to 23:37) to get off at “A1 Taipei Main Station 台北車站”. Transfer to Taipei Metro/MRT BL/BLUE BANNAN LINE (Banqiao-Nangang Line/板南線) and alight at the terminal stop "BL23 Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Station 台北南港展覽館站". Exit from Exit No. 1 and proceed to take a taxi to Academia Sinica. The metro fare is approximately 180TWD, and the taxi fare from Nangang Exhibition Center to Academia Sinica ranges from 100 to 150TWD. The travel time is approximately 1hrs45mins.

Take the Taoyuan Airport Metro/MRT Line (departs from Taoyuan Airport Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 every 15 minutes daily from 05:55 to 23:37) to get off at “A1 Taipei Main Station 台北車站”. Transfer to Taipei Metro/MRT BL/BLUE BANNAN LINE (Banqiao-Nangang Line 板南線) and alight at the terminal stop "BL23 Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Station 台北南港展覽館站". Walk out from Exit No. 5 and then cross the street for bus route 205, 212 Via Nangang Rd., 276, 306, 306 Shuttle, 620, 645 then get off at "Academia Sinica Stop 中研院公車站". The metro fare is approximately 180TWD, and the bus fare is around 15TWD for a single-segment regular ticket. The total travel time is approximately 1hrs45mins.
✈ From TAIPEI SONGSHAN AIRPORT (TSA) to ACADEMIA SINICA

The taxi charge by meter. Typical fare from Songshan Airport to Acadmia Sinica is around 500TWD and the travel time is about 30mins in moderate traffic.

Take Taipei Metro/MRT BR/BROWN Wenhu Line 文湖線 (operates daily from 06:00 to 00:00 the following day) from "BR13 Songshan Airport Station 松山機場站" to terminal stop "BL23 Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Station 台北南港展覽館站”, walk out from Exit No. 5 and then cross the street for bus route 276, 306, 620, 645 then get off at "Academia Sinica Stop 中研院公車站". The metro fare is approximately 28-35TWD, and the bus fare is around 15TWD for a single-segment regular ticket. The total travel time is approximately 45mins.
