Excursion

[Overview]

Arima Onsen is one of Japan's three most famous hot springs, located on the north side of the Rokko Mountains in Kobe City.

There is a long history. Arima Onsen appears in "Nihon-shoki" (Japanese mythology) written in 720 AD. It is known that Shogun Hideyoshi worked hard to restore the town damaged by natural disasters.

Arima Onsen is ranked as the second most popular hot spring in Japan among foreigners.

[Sightseeing in Arima Onsen Town]

You can spend time walking around the old Japanese-style town, where you can find restaurants, cafés, and souvenir shops.

We ask that you take lunch, whatever you like. Just a heads up: we will have dinner after this tour.

We also recommend that you visit a hot spring. It costs 800–2000 yen.

You can select from several onsens in the town, and those hot springs have different effects on your body and mind. A small towel can be purchased at the hot spring reception if needed.

If you have no experience taking a hot spring in Japan, please refer to [Bathing Manners], which tells you the manners you need to follow.

There is "Ashiyu", footbath, free.

[Travel to The Rokko Mountains by A Ropeway]

We ask you to take Rokko-Arima Ropeway from Arima Onsen Station to Rokko Mountain Station on the top of Rokko Mountain (875m high).

Please arrive at Arima Onsen Station of the Rokko-Arima Ropeway between 3:20 PM and 4:10 PM, or at the latest, 4:30 PM. The ropeway departs the station at 3:30 PM, 3:50 PM, and 4:10 PM. We will provide you with a ticket in the bus.

In 12 minutes, you can reach the Rokko mountains station.

[Take A Stroll on The Rokko Garden Terrace]

After a 3-minute walk from Rokko Mountains Station, you can get to Rokko Garden Terrace, where you can enjoy a beautiful view of Kobe City, along with cafes and souvenir shops. That place is very popular at night. If you have the time, you can come back again at night.

[Take A Bus to The Banquet Place]

The bus goes to Rokko Mountain to wait for you to go up after you get off the bus at Arima Onsen town.

We leave the Rokko Garden Terrace for THE SORAKUEN at 4:50 PM by bus.

THE SORAKUEN is the banquet place located in the center of Kobe City.

After we get off the bus, we need to take a short walk and explore the Japanese garden in front of the restaurant.
